It is a feed that, for its typical composition with a minimal quantity of cereals has a very low starch content (About 6%). On the other hand, it contains a high amount of digestible fibers and fats (9%) and is correctly balanced with supplementation of macro minerals, amino acids, and vitamins. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for the management of horses prone to certain pathologies such as gastritis, muscle acidosis, laminitis, Cushing’s Syndrome, etc. because they need feeds with limited starch content and consequent low glycaemic indexes. This is an excellent feed for supporting the management of particularly excitable horses too. The provided digestible fibers promote chewing and production of saliva which, thanks to its buffering capacity on gastric acidity, helps counteract the excessive stomach pH decreases. Fats and fibers supply clean energy that is without producing lactic acid, linked to starch and sugar metabolism: this results be helpful to horses that find it difficult to eliminate it or produce an excessive amount of it during work. This difficulty can limit the performance or muscular damage. The low starch content, besides supporting horses suffering from gastritis and prone to lactic acid production as specified above is much more suitable for horses suffering from metabolic diseases such as Cushing’s or EMS (Equine Metabolic Syndrome) which, because of the disorders they produce (insulin resistance…), have to be managed through feeds characterized by low glycaemic indexes, such as exactly HORSE FIBER H.E. important because they enter into the composition of a very large number of enzymes, essential for the body’s vital functions.

FEEDING ADVICE
For active and training horses supply 0,8/1 Kg per 100 kg of body weight. Leave hay and clean water always available to the horse. Feeding amount may be influenced by age, breed, appetite, exercise, desired body condition, and nutritional quality of the forage used.
